Book Cirle choice for September

8/31/2014

Thank you so much for the votes which have resulted in 'Juxtaposition' to be chosen as the inaugural read for the Book Circle. The Awakening came a close second and will be the book for October; so if you voted for The Awakening, you won't have to wait too long before we are reading that.

If you wish to join in the discussion on Juxtaposition then please sign up for the forum.

If you don't already have a copy of Juxtaposition then it is available in the Kindle Store for the 99 cents plus tax low price as promised.

So, get ready and I'll kick off with the discussion in the forum at some point this week by posting the in-depth synopsis and background to the story.

Thank you!

'A Baby For Felicity' is now in the Carter Seagrove Book Boutique.

This was the first of the three 'baby' stories and still the only m/m/f story I have written (don't know where it came from, haven't had the urge to write another).

Transmutation; now in The Book Boutique!

8/30/2014

'Transmutation', case three in the first series of Zac Tremble Investigates by Chambers Mars, has just arrived in the Book Boutique to join 'Chrysalis' and 'Metamorphosis'; to be followed by the rest of series 1 and 2 over the course of the next few months. Plus the good news that the paperback editions will soon be available from a new Print-On-Demand supplier and exclusively available from the Boutique.

Independence is the freedom to exercise personal choice; indie authors, publishers and retailers are hard pressed to compete with the likes of Amazon but in offering our stories for download on a read-first-pay-if-you-enjoy basis, we hope that you understand and appreciate that to be independent means to be independent; that said, we could have done nothing of particular importance without the support of our families, friends and readers; and as such, we are trying to honour those gifts and give everyone a fairer deal.

Please support Indie authors such as ourselves, if only by reading the stories and feeding back via the forum and by visiting the websites regularly. Please consider signing up for the bi-monthly newsletter and digest, 'The Window on the Workshop' and joining the book circle for your chance to quiz the authors and get behind the text of the featured story, in September we will be reading and discussing (via the forum) 'Juxtaposition'.

Paperbacks

Following our decision to switch our books from Amazon to our own book store; Chambers and I have also taken the step of removing all of our output from the paperback shelf at Amazon too. We have selected an alternative Print On Demand (POD) supplier and we are putting the package together with them in order to offer - eventually - all of our stories in paperback. We are also taking the opportunity, as each title is made available in paper, to refresh covers and in some cases, do a thorough edit of the text and in a few cases, put the illustrations in which were missing before.

The 72 illustrations for Chambers's Zac Tremble Investigates series are not going to be ready for the plan to publish the 12 cases of series one as an illustrated box-set in time for Christmas ... but we are working hard to get them as soon as possible thereafter.

Chambers and I have nearly finished The Fanshawe Scroll and we're keen to get that out in the book store before we head to London on the 6th September and then the Isle of Wight on the 7th September; returning to St Tropez on 15th September.

At that point, we will complete Storm Clouds and then take a break from Fenchurch and Cowley to get some solo stuff done (plus the October issue of The Window On The Workshop - don't forget that submission deadline is 30th September for anything you would like to published in the digest).

Right! A boy must shop for clothes to take with him to Paris, London and Ventnor ...

The Helios Protocol is now in the Book Boutique

The Helios Protocol is now available in The Carter Seagrove Book Boutique for immediate download as an epub or a mobi file (pdf to be added later).

The Helios Protocol is the fourth instalment of The Inspector Fenchurch Mysteries series. The first three stories (The Blakely Affair, Black Veil and Stradler's Game) are still available in the Amazon kindle store but eventually, all Carter Seagrove output (and all of Alp Mortal's and Chambers Mars's output) will be exclusive to the book boutique.

In the spirit of indie publishing, you are invited to download the story for a contribution to the authors and editors in recognition of their hard work to bring you this story. However, no money is demanded or expected and you may download the story for free or contribute later, once you have read the story and have decided what it is worth to you.

Please consider joining the forum to leave your comments on the story, our new way of delivering our stories to you, your experience of the site and the download process, other file formats you wish to be made available; in fact, just about anything.
We hope that you like the story and it whets your appetite for the next instalment The Fanshawe Scroll, which is being penned as we speak.

INDIE ... the urban short form for INDEPENDENT

It's time to be what the label on the tin says; independent means independent; unaffiliated authors who market their own product directly to their own customers ...

From 17th August 2014, and progressively over the course of the next few months, you will find a change occurring within the World as we all know it ... the books of Alp Mortal, Chambers Mars and Carter Seagrove will no longer be available from Amazon; instead we are opening our own Book Boutique -

The Carter Seagrove Book Boutique

And the boutique will operate in a very special and perhaps a unique way; download a book and then make a contribution to the authors and editors for their hard work if you enjoyed the story ... totally unfettered and free access to our work with no restrictions of any kind.

Independence is the freedom to exercise personal choice ... you decide how much you wish or can afford to contribute for the books that you want to read ... and, if you choose to contribute anything for the book/s which you plan to download then please bear in mind the following:

: the eBooks made available for download here are not available in digital format anywhere else (a paperback may exist in some cases, available from Amazon)
: the eBooks which you are planning to download are created by the authors themselves; some eBooks will lack certain features which you may expect/have grown to use to if you use other eBook retailers
: this eBook will not be automatically delivered to your eBook reader; it will appear as a download and you will need to copy it to your eBook reader yourself. In some cases you may need to convert the file to a format better suited to your particular eBook reader (different file formats will be offered over time depending on how things go ... tell us what you what and we'll seek to provide it)
: there is no limit to the number of times that you can download a particular eBook
: if you choose to contribute something in exchange for the eBook then this is not a charitable donation but a recognition of the work which the authors and editors have invested in the product

: you may choose to download an eBook for free at the time and contribute later, once you have read the story, and we are absolutely happy for you to do it that way ... in fact, happier
: if you plan to make a contribution then please consider sharing the planned contribution between the author/s and your favourite cause and even go as far as registering your pledge to that cause on the forum; make giving your living.

One of the bravest but most liberating decisions we feel that we have made in a very long time ... we're taking control of the entire process and in so doing, attempting to live up to the expectations and obligations of a true Indie author/self-publisher.

The Helios Protocol

The Helios Protocol is still being reviewed and edited but we still hope to put the title on the shelf this week; maybe not on the 15th but shortly thereafter.

Some energy has been directed towards The Fanshawe Scroll and some to the readers' digest and newsletter; the second edition is already beginning to take shape. Please submit something to appear in the October issue; it would be so nice to read your work for a change! It doesn't have to be anything more than your thoughts, or a list of favourite books/movies or songs ...

This is the final draft cover for The Helios Protocol; there was a great image of a spider which we could have used but a certain someone is afraid of the eight legged hairy beasts ...

Will post publication date as soon as we have it.

We welcome any and all original work for inclusion, subject to some simple rules:

·  It's your own original work and not restricted from publication.

·  You must have the rights to use any images which you plan to feature alongside the work.

·  You do not get paid for any submissions.

·  We reserve the right to decline to publish any material sent to us.

·  If the work is being serialised then we expect you to provide all parts in order and on time in accordance with our publication schedule.

·  Poems and short stories up to 2000 words maximum and serialised works will not exceed 2000 words per issue.

·  Work to be submitted in .doc or docx plain formatted and should be edited to a reasonable standard. We do not edit work submitted and will not publish it if it fails to meet our reasonable standards.

·  All works to be submitted as an attachment to an email to carterseagrove@outlook.com in which we need the following: your name (for accreditation purposes), email address for correspondence, any links you wish to publish with the work.

We hope you enjoyed the August 2014 issue and we are working on the October 2014 issue now. The deadline for submissions for the October issue is 30th September 2014. As always, we are happy to receive any feedback and suggestions on what you would like to see included in the newsletter.

Best wishes
