Dark Matter - has arrived ...

Dark Matter

Muon, a scientist like his father, may be named after a sub-atomic particle but everything else about his life is an exotic fusion. His father, Ralph, is an eminent particle physicist and his mother is an ageing prostitute who still plies her trade on the streets around Cadet in Paris. Muon's brother Jean-Lou has a bar and a partner, Venus Rose, a drag artiste, with whom he has been in love for the last forty years. A conference in Paris, attended by Muon and his father, brings them all together for the first time in a long time ... the stage is set for a romance-laced thriller which pitches father against son and shines a light into the darker corners of Ralph's glittering career. At the end of the day, what price to safeguard a reputation and what sacrifice for the love of a brother?

Dark Matter is the first part of a two part story; part two, Dark Energy, will appear in the near future.

I hope you enjoy the story which is also available on Smashwords.

Tipping Point ...

Tipping Point is the latest addition to the ever growing 'A Gay Brief Encounter' Series - though these encounters very often start of as brief but all have a long lasting effect on both men ...

James Martyn is a man on a mission to win his company some plum business. He is on his way to New York to pitch for the contract. Martyn James is also on his way to New York to pitch for the same piece of business. However, due to certain computer glitches and errors, James is confused with Martyn, by both the airline and the hotel. A comedy of errors which works in James's favour as far as the preparations for the presentation are concerned ... conversely, Martyn is having the worst possible time.

James meets Carlucci, a waiter, and in the closet as far as his family are concerned. James is also harbouring some long standing insecurities - is it possible that they will provide the key to each other's future? After a such promising start, things appear to be falling apart for James until he decides to take the future by the scruff of the neck and give it a vigorous shake.

I really hope that you enjoy the story and I would appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to email me at alpmortal@hotmail.com and please visit the website, www.alpmortal.weebly.com, to find out what I am currently working on, more about the projects with Chambers Mars, updates on the latest output from Carter Seagrove and future collaborations.

Tipping Point is also available on SMASWORDS.

Thank you!

Always busy ...

A fevered few days which has seen the completion of Tipping Point and Dark Matters, both now in the later stages of the editing process and both have swanky covers ... would hope to be able to put both onto the shelf by the end of the week/at the weekend. Which leaves me with Dark Energy and my part of Storm Clouds to write over the course of the next few days/week - output always increases as the days shorten and there is less time to enjoy outside.

Chambers says he has almost finished Paris Re-Visited; I will get that to review at the end of the week, in exchange for Storm Clouds - this is called carrot and stick; but basically, it's all carrot.

Dog is a little bit bored because the rain stopped us from walking quite so far. That said she has come up with the idea for a new thriller ... she's a little diamond that dog. But it is just as likely that I will end up writing parts 5 to 7 of the Map Stick ... I don't hear any complaints.

Have a good week.

New Story tripping the light fantastic

It happens all too often but I plan to work on one story and end up writing a another. Have a new story which is much farther advanced than I was expecting - Tipping Point - though that could change to Check In. A brief encounter style story based in New York (with a killer twist).

I have started Dark Energy too - to follow Dark Matter which is being edited.

And currently reviewing Hold It! and The Eclipse of Venus so that they can be re-launched on Carter Seagrove and Smashwords.

I haven't done a thing on the last in the Fenchurch series Storm Clouds (but then Chambers has not been pestering me for it so I guess he must be busy too).

Being back on the mountain seems to be just the tonic for writing new stuff - I'll be walking the dog and five ideas will pop up; they don't all germinate (thank God!) and I'll focus on one or two of the ideas and each time I walk the dog, the ideas coalesce a little and I get something to work with - I think I am going to have to put the dog on the payroll.

You'll have noticed that I added a page which links to the Goodreads M/M group read shelf - take a look at what the group is reading/read.

The sky is clear, the sun is shining and it is above 12 degrees - exceptional for the mountain at this time - usually much wetter. The dog is itching to go out; I guess she has some more ideas that she wants to share with me ...

Dark Matter ...

The new story, 'Dark Matter' (set in Paris) is coming on a pace as I adjust to the rhythm of the Mountain again; lots of fresh air, lots of sleep; lots of writing ...

The new story is a suspenseful romance; exploring amongst other things, the relationships between half brothers, Muon and Jean-Lou and their mother, Louisa, an ageing prostitute with an acid tongue; as this excerpt amply demonstrates:-

We all speak French like natives but Maman wished us to appear refined and made us speak English. It helped actually – possibly her only positive contribution in either my life or Jean-Lou’s.

“When will you settle down and-”

“Maman!”

“Ah, yes – both of my sons take it up the arse; it is the price a Mother pays for her unfortunate mistake-”

“Maman – you’re a whore and you always chose it to be that way – make no mistake! You say it like only whores spawn gay bastards.”

“That slut has cancer; did Jean-Lou tell you?”

“Yes ... Rose starts chemo tomorrow; be good, Maman.”

“The doctor says I have the cunt of a woman twenty years younger; what do say to that!?”

“You’re fucking your doctor now?”

“When are you seeing your Papa?”

“No doubt he will grab me for lunch tomorrow – if only to parade me in front of his colleagues so that he show off how clever his sperm are-”

I have a feeling that this story will for a while eclipse work on Storm Clouds with Chambers but he is dug in to Paris Re-Visited so I am not being asked for anything yet.

I will soon post the choices for the book club so that we can decide what story to read throughout December; there is no story for November as a few of you asked for more time to read The Shell and The Granite Pearl which was the story for October. No problem at all.

Back on the mountain ...

Finally back on the mountain after I can't remember how many weeks, months even. It is both weird and wonderful ... and darn sight cooler than the south!

The retreat centre is empty now and I'm in my usual 'house-sitter' mode until Christmas, which gives me ample opportunity to walk in the mountains with the dog, and write; Dark Matter has come on apace and I think this is where the energy will be spent over the next few days.

I also wanted to let you know that the stories which are being uploaded to Smashwords are being added (slowly but surely) to the Smashwords' Premium Catalog and will therefore be available through the other major eBook distributors (with the except of Amazon).
