'Daniel's Garden', a sweet romance between an author and his gardener. Published today and available in the Kindle Store, links for the Amazon pages below.

Buy a copy knowing that you support the funding of the monastery in Nepal that I myself support through the charity Maha Sukha. You can make a big difference to the lives of young children who need a classroom and a teacher. Learning to speak English will give these children a world of opportunity, a world you and I take for granted.

Thanks

The Fundraiser

Please give to the fundraiser to support 'Lost N Found'. Do that directly, and see my webpage which has more details, or buy Squat; if you buy 'Squat' for 99 cents then Liz will contribute 50 cents to the fundraiser (up to a maximum of 50 dollars), and that is matched by her employer, and I will donate 50 cents to the fundraiser, up to a maximum of 50 dollars. Liz is also donating her royalties on all sales at all outlets in August and September to the fundraiser. I'm donating all royalties to Maha Sukha at the moment, to fund the construction of the classroom at the monastery. Contributions to Maha Sukha are now approaching 300 euros. Not much compared to the 40,000 euros needed, but then I'm not the only donor, so the target will be reached more quickly than perhaps we imagined at the start of the project.

I say 'make giving your living'; why not? A young person, whether they live on the streets of Atlanta or live at the monastery in Nepal; is denied choices and has an unrealized potential, which, if liberated and empowered could have enormous consequences for the world; one person can make a difference.

Love to you all

Daniel's Garden

This short romance appears to be working so far and therefore I think it'll be published by Wednesday of next week; it's holding up part three of Map Stick, so I need to clear the decks and finish the Map story, which has taken much longer than planned. I'm also working up the ideas for a long romance, working title 'Dust Jacket'; a romance built around a murder mystery that spans 15 years; I'm keen to get that started and see how it looks and feels. After Map Stick part 3 is published, I plan to produce a compendium of the four stories that were all previously issued in 3 parts: The Map Stick, The Weaver and the Loom, Brave and The Awakening, in time for the Christmas spending spree (hint!).

Weather is stormy, autumn is nudging summer out of the way here in the Vosges.

Hey! I'm back on line, looking after a friend's farm and actually having a holiday. So, lots to catch up on and lots, I hope, to publish. Have various projects that are coming to a conclusion; first will be a short romance 'Dan's Garden'; out in a few days.  Hope your paths are safe.

Difficulty getting on line

8/15/2013

Due to one reason or another, I'm having trouble getting on line as often as I would like. I haven't forgotten you! The third part of The Map Stick, 'The Obsidian Eyed Hunter' is gonna hit the shelf next week, being the series to a close, perhaps! Hope you're enjoying the latest 'baby', 'A Baby for Robbie and Jamie'. I'm not sure why I'm moved to write about babies; I suppose we were all one once. I'm toying with another short 'baby' inspired story but, I have just started a much longer piece, a grand affair, with perhaps a murder mystery core; it's working title is 'Dust Cover'. I would hope to see it out by the end of September.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the summer sunshine; mine has come back after a brief absence, but, it's that little bit colder in the morning and in the evening, not yet time to light a fire of unpack the sweaters.

The Rinpoche, the head of the monastery in Nepal, is bearing the end of his visit to Europe for this year. I'll soon post details of the donations made to the monastery charity and details of a pilgrimage to the monastery being organised for next year.

Liz Winters and the Lost N Found Youth Charity

8/7/2013

My great pal and esteemed writing colleague, Liz Winters, is supporting an Atlanta based charity. Rather than paraphrase her words; below is a copy of her blog post. Liz is an amazingly generous person, in lots of ways and I'd like to support her to raise money for the project. Spreading the word is easy; giving is not so easy these days, but we're all more fortunate than we sometimes care to admit, and if you're reading this almost certainly more fortunate than a child or young person on the streets. Liz is donating 50 cents for each copy of 'Squat' sold up to 100 copies. My share of the royalties from Squat go to Maha Sukha, to fund the school room at the monastery. I'll match Liz's contribution, just as her employer is, up to a maximum of 50 dollars. Please help us to make the project as successful as it can be.

Sharing good fortune with those in need 08/07/2013

I've been reading a lot lately about authors contributing portions or even all of the proceeds from the sale of some or all of their works to certain causes. Kim Fielding, for example, donates 100% of the proceeds from her three book series: Stasis, Flux and Equipoise to Doctors Without Borders, and Alp Mortal donates 100% of the proceeds from the sale of his books to a charity that is raising money for a new school room for orphans in Nepal. Other authors contribute to causes as well, and there are too many of them to list here, but I want to mention one other author who has always donated a portion of his book proceeds to charitable causes. Brandon Shire is passionate about helping LGBT homeless youth, and he recently started a fundraising campaign for "Lost N Found Youth," an Atlanta nonprofit agency working to take homeless LGBT youth off the street.

You can read about Brandon's campaign and contribute to it directly here:
http://giveout.razoo.com/story/Mm-Romance-Fans-For-Lgbt-Youth. But if for whatever reason you don't feel comfortable contributing to the fundraiser directly, I want to give you another option. During the months of August and September, I will donate 50% of the proceeds form the sale of my stories to Lost n Found  Youth. That goes for any sale at any outlet where my stories are or will be available and it will include the new LGBTQ YA novel that will be released later this month.

But that's not all! My friend Alp Mortal has recently released a wonderful modern-day fairytale m/m romance called "Squat" that features two homeless young men who first find each other and then find a way to share what they have with others. Now, Alp already donates he proceeds of his books to another cause, but this story is so beautiful and so appropriate for this fundraiser, that I will to donate fifty cents per copy for up to 100 copies of "Squat" sold in August and September to Lost n Found Youth as well.

Just think, with single purchase of this ninety nine cent title you will be contributing at least eighty five cents to two worthy causes!

Why at least? Well, I'm fortunate enough to work for a company that matches employee contributions to charitable organizations of at least fifty dollars, which means that if the total of my contributions from the sale of "Squat" and my own books reaches that magic number, the contribution to Lost n Found Youth will actually be doubled. (This is the main reason why I will probably need to contribute directly to Lost n Found Youth instead of going through Brandon's fundraiser.)

So remember: I will contribute to Lost n Found Youth fifty percent of the proceeds from every copy of my stories sold anywhere they are available in August of September. I will also contribute fifty cents for the sale of each of up to 100 copies of Squat sold in in August and September. And if the sales are high enough to bring the total contribution over $50, then my employer will match my contribution, effectively doubling it. If you've already purchased copies of the stories and liked them, tell your friends or buy them their own copies :)

To donate directly to Brandon's fundraiser, go to: http://giveout.razoo.com/story/Mm-Romance-Fans-For-Lgbt-Youth and to donate directly to Lost n Found, go to: http://lostnfoundyouth.org/support-us/donate/

I know times are hard for everyone and some of us may not be able to make financial contributions. If you're not in a position to buy books or contribute directly, please help us spread the word so others out there who do have the means to contribute know about these opportunities. Thank you in advance for your help and for being an advocate for LGBTQ youth.

I'm just finalizing 'A baby for Robbie and Jamie', a gay short story about two guys who want a baby, one of the guys finds one, but that simply lights the touchpaper of the powder keg. I'll post a link once I'm done.
