I wasn't sure if the idea was going to come off but I'm very pleased to tell you that it did and as you can see, Hollie and I have collaborated on a publication; this is not a writing project; it's a publishing project and 'Sons & Mothers' contains a story from each of us; Hollie's The Secret and my 'Infatuation or Bust'.

‘Sons & Mothers’ is a publishing collaboration between us as authors. We are Hollie Bowrie and Alp Mortal. Both of the featured stories have already been published solo and both are available in eBook and paperback formats exclusively through Amazon.
The stories were chosen because they both touch on the relationship between a Mother and a Son. Hollie’s story, The Secret, deals head on with the issue of when - and how - the question of a young man’s sexuality becomes a fact known to the family of which he is a part; in particular, how his Mother addresses the question which she feels needs to be asked - believing as she does that her son is gay.
Alp’s piece, Infatuation or Bust, has a slightly different take; similar to Hollie’s in that a Mother believes her Son to be gay but the Son has very different ideas about how that fact is going to be disclosed – and indeed, how the rest of his life is going to lived.
Two takes on what is unquestionably the issue which many young gay men struggle to address – that of telling Mum. However, in neither story does the young man initiate that conversation; so they are not, how shall we say, prescriptive; unless you’re a Mother, then the stories might help to allay some of the natural anxiety which accompanies the subject.
First and foremost, we simply want you to enjoy the stories as stories in themselves.
Please bear in mind that these stories are written for an adult audience. Hollie’s story does not contain any sexually graphic content; however, Alp’s does and for that reason we respectively suggest that this material is only suitable for readers above the age of 18.
