If you are an indie author, and you would like to be featured on my 'author spotlight' in 2016, give me a shout via email - [email protected] Thank you. Alp xx Arrived back home in France last night after a fairly non-eventful and delay-free trip from Indiana via the Isle of Wight, London and Paris.
No snow; in fact, it's sunny and 13 degrees C at the moment - and the forecast is pretty good for the next two weeks. So much to catch up on here but first and foremost, must see friends who I haven't seen for nearly a year - and find the charger for my French mobile phone. Current writing focus is actually the editing/review of the first part of the Great Dane Saga - Too Much, Too Little, Too Late - aiming to have that back on the shelf in January after an absence of over a year. All 6 parts of the saga will eventually make it back onto the shelf along with the title Grand Affair during 2016 (nearly 1200 pages of romance in the pipeline). Three short stories are also taking shape - Who Is Roger Calvert?, Wood For The Trees, and Cocoon. I penned a list of all the stuff I plan to write in 2016, and realised that I would need days as long as those on Venus, and a year as long as Pluto's - all the time I have more to write than I can possibly contemplate, I am happy. Hoping the gods are treating you well. Alp xx On 11th December 2015, I will be relocating back to Europe, after 6 glorious months here in Jeffersonville, Indiana, staying with Shannon. I have been spoiled completely rotten, and take with me so many good memories.
I'll be popping over to the Isle of Wight as soon as I arrive in the UK, before heading home to The Vosges, the retreat, the dog, and the snow ... there will inevitably be some disruption to normal office hours and activities until I get back to 24/7 internet access, from on or around the 18th December. Getting back to France also means that Chambers and I can get cracking on the Inspector Fenchurch Mysteries - series 2, and the completion of Zac Tremble Investigates - series 2 (plus the two outstanding Zac novellas), and some preparatory work for Johnny Sante - series 2. A change of scene will hopefully also kickstart the process of getting Dark Energy written (sequel to Dark Matter), finishing The Map Stick series, and getting the next Weaver & Loom story out (Caravan to Calvaire - an Oswald Senator story) - plus some poetry, and about 753 other WIP projects ... 2016 will also see more author spotlight features published on this website. Thank you for your amazing support and encouragement. Alp xx ![]() The Baker of Son Frere - my dark story of love and possession across the centuries, has been nominated in the category Best Dark Theme in the 2015 M/M Romance Member's Choice Awards. Voting begins in January 2016 - will post a link to the voting page when the time comes. Meanwhile, we are also updating the book trailer now that we have a new voiceover by our amazing audiobook narrator Stewart Campbell - will post an update once the new book trailer gets uploaded to Youtube. Alp xx ![]() My 2015 Goodreads anthology submission - Agenda - is now available to be downloaded for FREE from all major sites, including Amazon - CLICK HERE The prompt for this story was ... STORY LETTER: Dear Author, For the last five years I’ve been his right hand man. I handle his schedule, I make his coffee, and I pick up his suits from the dry cleaner. I even make the arrangements for his hook ups with other men. The world sees a ruthless businessman, a cold bastard. But I know him. Behind the icy facade, I see HIM. The man who is meant to be my other half. Question is, when is he going to see ME. Not as his personal assistant, but as a lover, as a partner, as a man. I hope that you enjoy the story. Also, here is a link to Shannon M Kirkland's submission - Rock, Paper, Scissors - also available for free - CLICK HERE Happy Holidays!! Alp ![]() Protest is out now - links A huge protest rally in London brings together the opposing sides of a fierce debate raging over the future of the last remaining trees left standing on UK soil. Lowden and Dresden sit on opposite sides of the fence. A catastrophe leaves Lowden injured and with no choice but to accept Dresden's help. Can compassion heal the divide? Can love blossom in the wilderness? A quirky m/m romance that was originally conceived after a neighbour asked me why some trees at the edge of my property had been felled. The reason was to bring the sunshine into the space where the solar panels were being installed - cutting down trees to make way for solar panels? I liked the sound of the clash of ideologies and it gave rise to the story. I should say that the trees which were felled were extremely close to the cottage, and they blocked out all of the light in the yard and in the garden - so we had them cut down to give the crops a chance, and to generate enough electricity to light the cottage and power the laptop. From memory, there were seventeen - in a forest of half a billion. Some of the felled wood was used for fuel to heat the cottage, some was used to repair the barn and some was used to make shelving for the shed and for the cellar. Needless to say, we planted considerably more than seventeen seedlings as part of our on-going forestry management efforts. This is a rare case of a single event spawning a story - in fact, a single question. Usually, my stories are based on a broader array of inputs - though most begin with the all-important first line of dialogue - and encompass people, places, events, thoughts and feelings - as I remember them. Protest spawned a much longer story - Eden Site - which exists only on paper - 300 pages of paper, which I think, not having seen it for some time, someone has very helpfully used to light the fire ... Alp New Worlds has been produced as an audiobook, narrated by Stewart Campbell - it has just been released on Amazon, Audibles and iTunes
CLICK HERE FOR LINKS I am thrilled with this project because New Worlds is a challenging story from a narration point of view - not least because one of the two main characters is French (speaking in English) - Stewart did a great job of the accent. It also marks my 4th audiobook to be narrated by Stewart - and I tell him that as I write a new story, I now hear his voice in my head - he is delectably addictive. New Worlds Kenny has just found his partner of three years in bed with a young escort. He quickly packs and leaves his old life, heading for God only knows where. He hooks up with Jean, a truck driver, on his way to Marseilles. After spending some time in St. Cyr sur Mer, contemplating the past and deciding on his future, Kenny decides to head to Barcelona. A chance meeting with Jean on the road again, has him visiting Jean's farm. A story about breaking free and love as wild as the horses of the Camargue. You may be interested to know that New Worlds has a sister story - Hold It! (part of the Odyssee collection). I wrote New Worlds and Hold It! at the same time, giving Kenny two different futures, once he discovered Ian in bed with the escort. I hope you enjoy the new audiobook. ALP x ![]() I am thrilled and very excited to bring you our first author spotlight feature. The awesome K. Sterling very kindly accepted our invitation to be our inaugural author under the spotlight. CLICK HERE to access the feature and discover this amazing m/m erotic fiction author, her work and something of the persona behind the shades. We hope to bring more authors under the spotlight in the future. My very grateful thanks to K. Sterling for agreeing to do this and many thanks to Shannon for constructing the webpages. Alp x |
